The church was built only after the First World War: construction took place in 1923–26 to a design by Friedrich Lahrs of Königsberg. It is a fieldstone building with a choir and a sacristy on the north. Later a tower was erected on a granite plinth. The interior has a vaulted ceiling. The pulpit and altar are combined.

Once construction was complete, the church building acquired a harmonious appearance.

The church survived the Second World War completely intact. It was used as a house of culture. The cross on the gable of the porch was knocked off. The nave was used as a cinema hall, so its windows were bricked up. Today the church houses the Orthodox church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian.
Next to the church there is a house in good condition (apparently the former pastor's house).
