Klein Schönau Church

Klein Schönau Church

A village six kilometres north of Friedland (Pravdinsk). After the Second World War it was renamed Oktyabrskoye. Coordinates of the church: 54.501472, 21.011068.

Formerly a church founded in 1776 stood here. It had three bells, from 1449, 1746 and 1787. On 18 September 1887 a new church was consecrated on its site. The organ for Klein Schönau Church was built by the firm of Max Terletzki of Königsberg.

This church may have been slightly damaged during the fighting in 1945. Later it was partly dismantled by the military.

As of 1990 what remained of the church was the tower with a damaged cupola and the west wall. In 2000 the situation was unchanged.
