Arthur Sarnitz

A native Kaliningrader — and even a Königsberger. (His paternal grandmother was born on the Pregel and lived there until she married.) He spent his childhood in Cuba, where his father worked, and returned to Kaliningrad with his parents in 1976. He did his military service in St Petersburg. He learned the architect's trade from the ground up on London building sites, rising from bricklayer's labourer to deputy director of a construction firm and practising interior designer. He earned his degree in urban planning and qualified as an architect-engineer at the University of Ecology and Management in Warsaw (https://wseiz.pl/). Since returning to his home city, he has worked steadily to preserve its architectural heritage, never missing a chance to help other municipalities in the region with similar challenges.
