Vladas Povilaitis

Historian of Russian philosophy

Born and raised in Kaliningrad, he graduated from the Faculty of History at Kaliningrad State University (1995) and then, to his own surprise and everyone else's, enrolled in a postgraduate programme in philosophy, which finally put paid to all his hopes of a long, prosperous and happy life. Out of sheer stubbornness, he went on to defend both his Candidate of Sciences (1999) and his Doctor of Sciences (2011) dissertations. His research centres on the history of Russian philosophy and culture. He is the inspiration and organiser behind two educational projects: Ergojournal.ru, a journal on the history of Russian philosophy and culture, and Philosofaq.ru, a portal of video lectures on philosophy.
